Trade is the practice of buying and selling goods of monetary value at a given price. However, it would not be correct to limit trade to this criterion alone. In terms of the results it produces, it is closely related to trade, politics, the military and so on. Such roads as the Silk Road, the Spice Route and the King's Road were almost entirely intertwined with trade throughout the Middle Ages, and numerous port cities in the Middle East and Europe served as the lifeblood of commerce, so much so that some cities were indexed solely by trade. These cities include Venice, Alexandria, Marseilles, Amalfi and Antalya, to name a few. This study aims to examine the trading activities that took place throughout the Middle Ages in Asia, Europe and Africa, now referred to as the "Old World Continents" in terms of a geographical concept related to politics and economics.
