In this study, the process of change in the Middle East and Northern Africa which is an outcome of democratization movements will be analyzed. The political tensions in the region might be sourced from democratic deficit in the political systems and western interventions into regional politics. One sole aim behind the interventions is to increase the oil share and advanced western states have conducted relations throughout the region to supply their energy needs. Since political structures which are products of Cold War have been disposed, in such conjuncture, the continuity of the system in the region will be no longer possible. Thereby, current social movements in the region will be examined in that context. The other prominent point in the article is that increasing role of information technologies which can be assumed as initiator of the social movements.
