Türkistan ve Hint Alt Kıtası’nı birbirine bağlayan ve Sefid Kûh (Sepin Gar) sıradağlarında yer alan Hayber Geçidi; askeri, ticari ve kültürel açılardan stratejik bir öneme sahiptir. Türk tarihi açısından da ayrı bir ehemmiyete sahip olan Hayber Geçidi, XIX. yüzyılda İngiliz Hindistanı ile Afganlar arasında sınır olmuş ve bu sebeple İngilizler, bölgeye dair yaptığı araştırmalarda zengin bilgiler vermişlerdir. Bu çalışmada Türkistan’ın güneye açılan boğazlarından biri olan Hayber Geçidi’nin kısa tarihi, içinde Sefid Kûh’un da bulunduğu fiziki coğrafyası ve önemli yerleri, tarihi coğrafya metoduyla verilmeye çalışılmıştır.
The Hayber Pass, which connects Turkistan and the Indian subcontinent and is located in the Sefid Kûh (Sepin Gar) ranges, has a strategic importance in military, commercial and cultural aspects. The Hayber Pass, which has a distinct history in terms of Turkish history, XIX. In the century, the British had a border between India and the Afghans, and therefore the British gave rich information in their research on the region. In this study, the short history of the Hayber Pass, one of the northern throats of Turkistan, and the physical geography and important places in which Sefid Kûh is also included, were tried to be given by the historical geography method.
