Küreselleşme, son yılların en popüler konularından biridir ve akademik, siyasi çevrelerde birçok boyutuyla tartışılmaktadır. Bazı yazarlar, küreselleşmeyi geçmişte başlamış bir sürecin devamı olarak görürken, diğerleri ise son çeyrek yüzyılda özellikle enformasyon teknolojileri ile birlikte farklı bir süreç olarak tanımlamaktadır. Küreselleşme olgusu, medyada da önemli etkileri vasıtasıyla değişime yol açmıştır. Bunların en önemlilerinden bir tanesi de haber medyasıdır. Küreselleşmenin haber medyası üzerindeki etkisine ilişkin iki farklı görüş mevcuttur. Bunlardan bir tanesi küresel haber içeriklerinin yer aldığı tek tip bir medya yapısı olduğu diğeri ise haber medyasının yer aldığı ülkenin ulusal çıkarları doğrultusunda hareket ettiğidir. Devletler, kontrol ettikleri veya etkiledikleri medya organları aracılığıyla ulusal çıkarları için haberler üretirler ve bu haberleri bilgi operasyonlarının bir parçası olarak kullanırlar. Böylece haberler, bir devletin kendi hedeflerine uygun olarak hedef ülkenin toplumunun veya karar alıcılarının duygularını, düşüncelerini, tutumlarını veya davranışlarını etkileyebilir. Bu doğrultuda, Türkiye tarafından 2018 yılının Ocak ayında Suriye'nin Afrin kentine düzenlenen Zeytin Dalı Harekatı’nın küresel haber kanallarında ele alınış biçimi karşılaştırmalı olarak analiz edilecektir. Bu doğrultuda, harekatın tarafı olan Türkiye ile harekatla yakından ilgisi bulunan ABD'nin ve Rusya’nın Suriye ile ilgili yapmış oldukları açıklamaların içerikleri her üç ülkenin dışişleri bakanlıklarının web sitelerinden incelenmiştir. Bununla birlikte, her üç ülkenin, küresel habercilik yaptıklarını öne süren yayın organlarına ait web siteleri www.trtworld.com, www.cnn.com ve www.sputniknews.com’da yer alan haber içerikleri, harekatın başladığı 20 Ocak 2018 tarihiyle son erdiği 24 Mart 2018 tarihleri arasında inceleme kapsamına alınmıştır. Ele alınan örneklem İçerik Analizi yöntemi kullanılarak analiz edilmiştir. Yapılan analiz neticesinde elde edilen verilere göre, her üç ülkenin dışişleri bakanlıkları tarafından yapılan açıklamaların, bu ülkelerde yer alan medya kuruluşlarının yer verdiği haber içerikleriyle büyük benzerlik gösterdiği belirlenmiştir. TRT, Türkiye’nin sınır güvenliği için operasyonun gerekliliğini vurgulayarak ülkenin dış politikasına odaklanırken, CNN’in, ABD'nin öne sürdüğü en önemli argüman olan IŞİD'e karşı mücadelenin nasıl kesintiye uğrayacağına dair haberlere yer verdiği ortaya çıkmıştır. Operasyondan nispeten uzak olan Rusya’nın, beklenildiği gibi dış politikasında daha ılımlı bir tutum sergilediği ve Sputnik'in genellikle tarafsız ifadeler kullandığı görülmüştür.
Globalization is one of the most popular topics in recent years and is discussed in many dimensions in academic, political environments. Some writers see globalization as a continuation of a process that has begun in the past, while others define it as a different process in the last quarter of the century, especially with information technology. The phenomenon of globalization has led to a significant change in the media as well. One of the most important is the media. There are two different views on the impact of globalization on the media. One of them is a single type of media structure where global news content is included, and the other is that the news media is acting in line with the national interests of the country where it is included. States produce news for their national interests through the media bodies they control or influence and use these news as part of information operations. Thus, news may affect the feelings, thoughts, attitudes or behaviors of the society or decision makers of the target country, in accordance with the objectives of a state. In this regard, the way Turkey discussed in the global news channels of the Olive Dale Movement held in the Syrian city of Afrin in January 2018 will be comparatively analyzed. In this regard, the content of the statements made by the U.S. and Russia, which are closely related to the operation with Turkey, which is part of the movement, has been reviewed from the websites of the foreign ministries of the three countries. However, the news content on the websites www.trtworld.com, www.cnn.com and www.sputniknews.com of the broadcasting bodies of the three countries that claim to do global news has been covered by the review between the date of the operation began on 20 January 2018 and the date of the operation ended on 24 March 2018. The sample taken was analyzed using the Content Analysis method. According to the data obtained from the analysis, the statements made by the ministries of foreign affairs of each of the three countries show great similarity to the news content of the media organizations located in these countries. While TRT emphasizes the necessity of the operation for the security of the border of Turkey and focuses on the country’s foreign policy, it has been revealed that CNN has included news about how the struggle against ISIS, the most important argument that the United States has suggested, will be stopped. It has been shown that Russia, which is relatively far from the operation, has a more moderate attitude in its foreign policy as expected, and Sputnik often uses neutral expressions.

One is that there is a uniform media structure that includes global news content, while the other is that the news media operates in the direction of the national interests of the country where it is located. States produce news for their national interests through media outlets they control or influence, and use these news stories as part of their information operations. Thus, news can influence the emotions, thoughts, attitudes, or behaviors of the target country's society or decision-makers in accordance with a state's own goals. This analysis is based on the Olive Branch Operation launched by Turkey in Afrin, Syria in January 2018. It was expected that the news these broadcasting organizations serve would reflect the foreign policy of the countries they are based in. In this direction, the content of the statements regarding Syria made by Turkey, which is the side of the operation, and the USA and Russia, which are closely related to the operation, were examined on the websites of the foreign ministries of all three countries. In addition, the news contents which take place in the websites of the three countries media organizations www.trtworld.com, www.cnn.com and www.sputniknews.com which claim that all are doing global journalism, were included in the scope of the investigation between the operation start date January 20, 2018 and the end date March 24, 2018. Based on the thesis that the Syrian policies of these countries will be seen in the news, Content Analysis method is used in the study. According to the data obtained as a result of the analysis, it has been determined that the statements made by the foreign ministries of all three countries are very similar to the news contents of the media organizations in these countries. While TRT emphasizes Turkey's foreign policy that highlights the necessity of the operation for the country's border security, CNN has featured numerous reports on how the fight against ISIS, which is the most important argument put forward by the United States, will be interrupted. Russia, which is relatively distant from the operation, has exhibited a more moderate stance in its foreign policy as expected, and Sputnik has been seen to use largely impartial expressions.
