Socioeconomic status; It is a broad concept that summarizes many different aspects of a student, school or school system. The relationship between socioeconomic background and student achievement is one of the most frequently addressed issues of research on educational policy. Numerous studies in this area show that there is a strong relationship between the socioeconomic status of the family and the student's learning outcomes. In addition, students with lower academic performance are more likely to come from lower socioeconomic background. In the International Student Achievement Assessment Project (PISA), a student's socioeconomic status is estimated by the PISA economic, social and cultural status index (ESCS). This index is derived from a variety of variables that provide information about family backgrounds of students, such as family education, occupation, a range of household items considered as wealth, and the number of books at home and other educational resources. When the relationship between the PISA results with this index, Turkey is one of the country decreased over the years from PISA 2006 for this. In the 2015 PISA results, the relationship between socioeconomic cultural index and student achievement was the smallest and the least positive. Despite the reduction of the impact on Turkey's success of socioeconomic status variable factors affecting the success of Turkey's success had a serious decline in performance necessitates a detailed examination of the way. In this study, success factors that cause differences in education in Turkey using data from the 2015 PISA survey implemented by the OECD were examined. As a result, it was found that social and cultural status index measured by OECD had a limited effect on students' achievement performance. 2015 PISA data were analyzed using a hierarchical linear model which is a multi-level model. As a result of the analysis, it was concluded that the socioeconomic status factor was caused by inequality in the education system on achievement and the socioeconomic status variable was indicated by the regions where the students live and the types of schools they go to.
