Bu çalışmada yeni dini hareketler olarak nitelenen oluşumlara üyelik süreci ve üyelik için gerçekleştirilen ritüeller ve uygulamalar inceleme konusu yapılmaktadır. Mutlak otoriteye sahip bir karizmatik lider ve belirli bir ideoloji etrafında toplanma özellikleriyle ön plana çıkan yeni dini hareketler, geleneksel dini anlayış ve kurumlara meydan okuyarak onların yerini almaya çalışmaktadır. Bu açıdan söz konusu hareketlerin farklı yönleriyle sorgulandıkları ve çeşitli araştırmalara konu edildikleri görülmektedir. Yeni dini hareketlerin sorgulanan ve merak edilen yönlerinden biri de hiç kuşkusuz insanların bu tür oluşumlara katılım süreçlerine ilişkindir. Yeni dini hareketlerin önemli bir bölümü yeni elde ettikleri üyeleri gruba dahil ederken bir takım ritüel, uygulama ve sembollere yer vermektedir. Bazı YDH’ler, vaftiz uygulamasında olduğu gibi, içinden çıktıkları ya da etkilendikleri geleneksel dinin ritüelini aynen ya da belli oranda değişiklerle benimseyip uygularken bazı hareketler, gruba katılımı kendilerine özgü nitelikler taşıyan ayin ya da törenler ile gerçekleştirmektedir. Bazı hareketlerde bu doğrultudaki inanç ve uygulamalara oldukça önem atfedilmesi de dikkat çekicidir.
In this study, new religious movements are considered to be the subject of the study of the membership process and the rituals and practices carried out for membership. A charismatic leader with absolute authority and new religious movements that come to the forefront with their properties of gathering around a particular ideology are trying to take their place by challenging traditional religious understanding and institutions. From this point of view, these movements are questioned in different aspects and are subject to various research. One of the questioned and questioned aspects of new religious movements is undoubtedly related to the processes of participation of people in such formations. A significant part of the new religious movements incorporate the newly acquired members into the group while a set of rituals, practices and symbols. Some YDHs, as in the practice of baptism, adopts and implement the ritual of the traditional religion they come out or are affected by, in the same way or in a certain degree, changes, while some movements perform participation in the group by rituals or ceremonies that have their own characteristics. It is also remarkable that in some movements the importance of beliefs and practices in this direction is attributed.
