Abstract:

Greece was occupied by the Italians on October 28, 1940, and when the Italians failed, Hitler was occupied in April 1941 in order to secure the southern wing before his move to the Soviet Union. Greece has lost more than 300,000 people during the “Great Hunger” period from hunger and epidemic. Through the Reday, Turkey has provided humanitarian aid to Greece for six months with the Dumlupınar and Liberation vessels and extended the help hand to the citizens of the neighboring country. In addition to these aid, Turkey has opened its doors to refugees of various ethnic origins, including the first Greek soldiers and civilians who fled to the western Anatolian coast, primarily from the Ismirian side. Specifically, as the escape activities in the Egean Sea were promoted by British agents, the escape points of the refugees to the Turkish coast have changed in time according to the course of the war and the coasts they reached in the advanced times have also formed the southwest of the country. Through the transit transit through Turkey, the Greeks found the opportunity to reorganize and gather in the Middle East. It has been observed by Italian soldiers who fled from the German occupation, except by Greek citizens from the Rhodes and Istanköy islands. Except for Turkish, Italian and Greek refugees, there are German, British, American and even Jewish origin among those refugees to Turkey by sea. This is the case in the Turkish-Greek relations. The events that took place during the World War were made clear.
