Hatıra eserler, tarihî olayların ve/veya gündelik yaşamın ortaya konmasına katkıda bulunan bir değere sahiptir. Bazen resmî evrakta yer almayan bilgilere bu kaynaklar vasıtasıyla erişilebilmektedir. Yakın dönem Türk bürokrasisinde önemli kademelerde bulunan Ertuğrul Kumcuoğlu'nun anıları da günümüze ışık tutan bir mahiyettedir. Eserinde, çocukluğundan 1980'li yılların ortasına kadar olan dönemi ele alan yazar, hem toplumsal bilgiler vermekte hem de siyaset ve bürokrasiye dair anekdotlar paylaşmaktadır. Dolayısıyla, bu çalışma bir nevi Türkiye fotoğrafı sunmaktadır denilebilir.
Memory works have a value that contributes to the manifestation of historical events and/or daily life. Sometimes information that is not included in the official document can be accessed through these sources. The memories of Ertuğrul Kumcuoğlu, who are in important stages in the recent Turkish bureaucracy, are also a place that keeps light to the present day. In his work, the writer discusses the period from his childhood to the mid-1980s, both giving social information and sharing anecdotes about politics and bureaucracy. Therefore, this work can be called a photo of the name of Turkey.
