Ekonomik anlamda serbest piyasa düzenine uyum sağlayan Türkiye, 1950 yılından itibaren gelişmekte olan ülke olarak gelişmiş ülke olma hedefi doğrultusunda hızla liberalleşmiştir. Türk Amerikan ilişkilerinin askeri boyutunda ise Sovyet tehdidinin dengelenmesi anlamında gerek ABD’ye gerekse de NATO’ya üsler tesis eden Ankara, Washington yönetiminden askeri yardımlar da temin etmiştir. İlişkilerdeki bu derinleşme eğilimine rağmen siyasi ilişkiler; haşhaş üretimi, Küba Füze Krizi ve Johnson mektubu gibi hadiseler nedeniyle inişli çıkışlı bir ivmeye sahip olmuştur. ABD’nin Türkiye’yle olan ilişkilerinde de kültür oldukça önemli bir faktördür. Zira ABD Fulbright Burslarından, Ford Vakfı’na ve hatta Türk-Amerikan Dostluk Dernekleri’ne kadar çeşitli araçlar kullanarak hem Türkiye’deki Amerikan imajını olumlu bir zemine oturtmak hem de iki ülke arasındaki kültürel ilişkileri geliştirmek istemiştir. Türkiye, Eisenhower Doktrini çerçevesinde Sovyetler Birliği’nin çevrelenmesi stratejisinde aktif bir rol üstlenmiştir. Buna bağlı olarak ABD, Türkiye’ye çeşitli askeri yardımlarda bulunmuş; Soğuk Savaş şartlarının da etkisiyle Türkiye’de askeri üsler kurmuş ve iki ülke arasında askeri anlaşmalar imzalanmıştır. Dahası Ford Vakfı, Rockefeller Vakfı, Eisenhower Programı ve Türk-Amerikan Derneği gibi devlet dışı organizasyonlar da iki ülke arasındaki kültürel ilişkilerin derinleşmesini sağlamıştır.
Turkey, economically adjusting to the free market system, has rapidly liberalized in accordance with its goal of becoming a developed country as a developing country since 1950. In the military dimension of the Turkish-American relations, Ankara, which establishes bases for the US or NATO in order to balance the Soviet threat, has also provided military aid from the Washington administration. Despite this tendency to deepen relationships, political relationships have had a downward outward momentum due to events such as the production of shell, the Cuba Missile Crisis and the Johnson Letter. In the relations of the United States with Turkey, culture is a very important factor. From the US Fulbright Stock Exchange, to the Ford Foundation and even to the Turkish-American Friendship Associations, Zira wanted to put the American image in Turkey on a positive ground and develop cultural relations between the two countries. Turkey has taken an active role in the Soviet Union's roundup strategy under the Eisenhower Doctrine. According to this, the United States has provided a variety of military aid to Turkey; under the influence of the conditions of the Cold War, it has established military bases in Turkey and military agreements have been signed between the two countries. Furthermore, non-governmental organizations such as the Ford Foundation, the Rockefeller Foundation, the Eisenhower Program and the Turkish-American Association have also to deepen cultural relations between the two countries.
