Since verbs in the Chinese language do not have conjugation and morphological indicators of time, the lexical means, context, as well as various aspectual-temporal suffixes and particles are used to express it instead. One of these particles is the particle 了(le). The current study analyzes and systematizes the main cases of the use of the particle 了 (le) in the Chinese language as well as the classification of these cases into three groups: 了(le) -1 as an aspectual-temporal suffix (indicates the completion of the action), 了(le) -2 as a modal particle (indicates a change in state) and 了(le) -3 as a construction element for "strengthening" the adjectives. The article highlights the main issues of Russian-speaking students when studying this topic, which, according to the authors of this article, will help overcome the difficulties in further learning of the Chinese language.
