Colonization, which is based on its roots until the discovery of the American continent, appears as an economic and cultural threshold. The cultural discourse occurs in the colonies of the West—which legitimizes the civilization activities of the orientalist speech. The Orientalist view that imprisoned the East to a very distant place with a period of time behind the moment in which the West lived, reiterates itself for hundreds of years and reaches the present day, and this information produced about the East is used as a fictional material in literary works. These literary works describe the East in a strange and mysterious way. At this point, as postmodernism is the criticism of modernism, the post-lonyal approach also includes the criticism of orientalism and colonial order. In this study, a method of criticism is based on the post-colonial theory of Jules Verne’s story of the world in the Sixteen Days. In this story, the essence-object, power-other, master-slave and eril-dish dialecticism is established with an orientalistic view. From a post-colonial point of view, it seems that the East is depicted as an object of desire in which the West can feed the feelings underconsciously suppressed. No matter how far the East looks, the world is round and it will return to its starting point, to the West. Therefore, in the study, it is emphasized that the other created/the east is the west’s own sub-mean/the other.
