Abstract:

Bu çalışmanın amacı, 4. sınıf sosyal bilgiler dersinde kavram karikatürü kullanımının öğrencilerin bu dersteki başarılarına etkisini belirlemektir. Bu çalışma, nicel araştırmalardan, ön test-son test kontrol gruplu yarı deneysel desende yürütülmüştür. Bu desen normal deneysel desenin devamında gelir ve eşitlenmemiş gruplara ön test ve son test uygulanarak yapılır. Araştırma için 44 adet çoktan seçmeli maddeden oluşan bir başarı testi hazırlanmıştır. Bu test için 4. sınıf SBDÖP’deki ‘üretim, dağıtım ve tüketim’ öğrenme alanı kazanımlarına yönelik olarak ders kitapları, eba gibi çeşitli eğitim platformlarından, sınavlara hazırlık kitaplarından faydalanılarak ve alan uzmanlarının görüşlerine de dayanılarak araştırmacı tarafından bir pilot çalışma hazırlanmıştır. Geçerlilik ve güvenirlilik çalışmasının yapılması amacıyla 143 beşinci sınıf öğrencisine başarı testi uygulanmış ve testin maddelerinin zorluk ve ayırt ediciliklerine yönelik Alt Grup- Üst Grup” yöntemi ile veri analizi yapılmıştır. Bu uygulama sonucunda başarı testi 25 maddeye düşmüştür. Araştırma için belirlenen amaçlar doğrultusunda, Mann Whitney U testi ve Wilcoxon İşaretli Sıralar testi yapılmıştır. Yapılan analizlere göre, çalışma başında yapılan başarı testinde her iki grupta da herhangi bir farklılaşmanın oluşmadığı tespit edilmiştir. Uygulama sonunda her iki gruba da uygulanan son başarı testinden elde edilen bulgulara göre kontrol grubunun sontest puanının uygulama öncesindeki puanına göre anlamlı bir fark oluşturmadığı, deney grubunun ise sontest puanların öntest puanlarına göre anlamlı bir farklılık gösterdiği tespit edilmiştir. Bu bulgulara gore, kavram karikatürüne dayalı öğretim etkinliklerinin, programa dayalı öğretim etkinliklerinden daha etkili olduğu sonucuna varılabilir.

Abstract:

The aim of this study is to determine the impact of the use of concept cartoon in the 4th class social information course on the students' achievements in this course. This study was conducted in a semi-experimental scheme of quantitative research, pre-test-final test control group. This pattern comes in the continuation of the normal experimental pattern and is done by applying pre-test and final test to uneven groups. A successful test of 44 already selected substances has been prepared for the research. For this test, a pilot study was prepared by the researcher on the basis of the achievements in the field of learning "production, distribution and consumption" in the 4th grade SBDÖP, using the various educational platforms such as eba, the preparation books for the exams and the opinions of the field experts. For the purpose of conducting the validity and reliability study, 143 students of the fifth class were subjected to the success test and the data analysis was carried out by the method of the Sub-Group-Over-Group on the difficulties and differentiability of the test materials. The success test was reduced to 25 matters. In accordance with the purposes set for the study, Mann Whitney U test and Wilcoxon Signed Sequences test were performed. According to the analysis, the success test at the beginning of the study found that there was no differentiation in both groups. According to the results obtained from the last success test applied to both groups at the end of the application, the control group’s estest score did not make a meaningful difference compared to the previous application score, while the experiment group’s estest score did not make a meaningful difference compared to the pre-test score. These findings can be concluded that the teaching activities based on the concept cartoon are more effective than the program-based teaching activities.

The purpose of this study is to determine the effect of the use of concept cartoons on student learning in 4th grade social studies lesson. The study was utilizied a quantitative research method, with a pretest-posttest control group quasi-experimental design. The quasi-experimental design follows experimental method and it is done by applying a pre-test and a post-test to the non-equal groups. The study developed an achievement test that consist of 44 multiple choice items. For the research, an achievement test consisting of 44 multiple choice items was prepared. For this test,In order to develop the achievement test, a pilot study was prepared by the researcher based on the opinions of the field experts and using various educational platforms such as textbooks, eba, and exam preparation books for the standard of 'production, distribution and consumption' in the 4th grade social studies course curriculum. The achievement test was applied to 143 fifth grade students in order to carry out validity and reliability studies, and data analysis was performed using the "Lower Group-Upper Group" test for the difficulty and discrimination of the items of the test. As a result of this application, the achievement test was reduced to 25 items. According to the results of the study, Mann Whitney U test and Wilcoxon Signed Ranks test were conducted in line with the purposes determined in the study. Pre-test results indicated no difference between experimental and control groups. On the other hand, post-test results indicated that experimental groups achievement significantly increased based on pre-test scores, but no significant increase in control groups’ post test scores. It can be concluded that integrating concept cartoons in teaching activities are more effective than curriculum-based teaching activities.
