At the end of the XIX century and the beginning of the XX century, the Tradition in the Islamic world has been heavily criticised. Traditional sûfîsm and understandings of fiqh also took their share of the pains of this period. Halveti Sheikh Safvet Yetkin (d. 1950) and Izmirli Ismail Haqqi (d. 1946), who also had the Shazelî caliphate, were also influential figures in their fields during the periods of the end of the Ottoman Empire and the foundation of the Republic of Turkey. The debate between these two names about the credibility of the hadiths in the sûfî books has grown to include other issues of the tasawwuf. In this communiqué, the methods and arguments in the discussions of these two names will be discussed and evaluated on the axis of the fiqh method terminology, the hadisth theory of the usul al-fiqh/ legal theory and the fiqh issues. We will also try to see if the change experienced at that time was reflected in these discussions in the context of legal sociology. Thus, in the most turbulent period, We hope that the debate style of the two names who are among the last ulema and the meshayih of the Ottoman Empire will contribute to today's academics.
