Abstract:

Energy is an important indicator of the strengths and development of countries in the world of global competition. In developing countries, there is a causal relationship between the level of economic development and electricity consumption. The countries will ensure economic development if they ensure efficient production and distribution of electricity by monitoring the quality of life. In Turkey, high rates of losses can occur in the transmission and distribution networks. This is seen as a point of improvement in terms of energy distribution companies. The aim of this study is to make a relative calculation of the efficiency values for electricity distribution of energy distribution companies in Turkey. The study compared the current distribution activities of 21 energy distribution companies operating in Turkey in 2019 with Data Coverage Analysis (VZA). In the application, a total of 4 models were selected, including the VZA models and the CCR model developed by Charnes, Cooper and Rhodes (in- and out-oriented CCR model) and the BCC model developed by Banker, Charnes and Cooper (in- and out-oriented BCC). As a result, the performance values of 21 energy distribution companies were measured with the EMS Version 1.3 package program in the solution of the models, and with the incorporation of the Super Event Model in the EMS Version 1.3 program, the company’s relative performance ranking was achieved. This study is believed to be beneficial for decision makers in determining the improvement targets, as it will provide a viewpoint from different points, such as the scale-by-scale return and input/out direction on the efficient distribution of electricity.
