Abstract:

This study aims to examine the change in Gazi Faculty of Education Physics Teaching undergraduate curricula from the past to the present. Curriculums implemented between 1994-2021 were examined in various aspects by document analysis method. The data of the study consists of the information obtained from the Gazi Faculty of Education Dean's Office and the archives of the relevant program. The analyzes were made on two main aspects. The first aspect is about how often the relevant curricula change, the factors that trigger these changes, and the general trends created by these changes. The second aspect of the study is about the change of compulsory and elective, theoretical and applied courses taught in the curricula, the change of course types and weekly course hours. The data collected in the study show that six different curricula have been implemented in the last 27 years, changing five times in total. All the changes started with external influences, most notably with the savings of The Council of Higher Education (YÖK) on the relevant program. In this process, the longest-implemented program is the one implemented between 1998-2007, and the shortest-implemented program is the one implemented between 2018-2021. It has been observed that both the number and variety of elective courses are constantly increasing. In addition, it is seen that there is a stable change outside the program between 2018-2021, and this change is in the form of education and field education courses gradually gaining importance in the programs, the field courses have not changed much, and the general culture and supporting courses have been shifted from compulsory to elective.
