Abstract:

Purpose: The aim of this article, to understand the place, importance, efficiency and future potential of the digital twin concept, which has increased in importance with Industry 4.0, and to contribute to the literature in order to form the basis for other studies. Methodology: The method of this study is literature review. An in-depth review article study was conducted by examining the latest articles, proceedings, sample applications of newspaper and internet news about the digital twin and its use in businesses. Findings: According to the evaluation results, digital twin technology is a solution for businesses. With the contribution of digital twin technology, Industry 4.0 technologies, especially cyber physical systems and internet of things, can be used more effectively. Digital twin helps to obtain flexible, faster, quality and personalized products. Digital twins, which provide significant advantages in forecasting, security, diagnosis and questioning of the current situation, increase the power of accuracy in decision making, quality in products and services, speed in operational activities, improving overall operational efficiency and organizational performance and increasing the competitiveness of enterprises. Originality: There is an important gap in the literature due to the new emergence of the digital twin concept. For this reason, the article is among the first domestic studies that provide information about the digital twin and focus on its benefits and applications in production.
