Abstract:

The aim of this study is to determine the attitudes of primary school students towards the value of freedom. From the designs of the karma method in the research, the explanatory order patterns were used. In this design, the research begins with the quantity and continues with the quantity. The work group of the research is determined separately for quantitative and qualitative processes. The research universe is the classes in which the social information course is taught in the primary and secondary schools in the center of the province of Malatya in the 2019-2020 academic year. The sample of the study consists of 1249 students from this universe identified by a simple, unselective sample method. The quality data of the research was obtained by the maximum variety of sample types, which are from the purposes of sample methods. A total of 24 students participated in this study. Quantitative data of the study were collected in the Social Information and Human Rights, Citizenship and Democracy Course Value Attitude Scale, and Qualitative data were collected in a semi-configured discussion form. In the interview form to students: “What is freedom for you?” The question is directed. Quantitative data are analyzed by visual and extractive statistical methods, while qualitative data is analyzed by the method of content analysis. According to the research results, the attitudes of primary school students towards the value of freedom are highly positive and significantly vary according to the variables of class, success status, brotherhood, reading habit and the socio-economic level of the school.
