Concepts regarded as the universal units of ideational actions of the speakers form the components of knowledge and consciousness about the World. At this point, multiwords are the linguistic units emerged from our general knowledge about the world embodied in our conceptual system (Kövecses, 2010). Since multiwords are the products where cognitive information is stored and transferred from culture to culture, they should not be evaluated as the expressions reflecting a meaning regarding to the lexical reference of each component. Unlike the researches taking multiwords as the structures formed by words having individual references and therefore cannot contribute to the speakers’ processing the meanings in the framework of lexical semantics, this study detects cognitive tendencies represented by 1000 Turkish multiword expressions.through the perspective of Cognitive Semantics which will enable the language-cognition-mind-culture networks evaluations possible. For instance, the components of the multiword expression “etekleri zil (ıslık veya çalpara) çal-” are not processed within their lexical meanings but comprehended with their holistic meaning by contacting cognitive concepts as “rush”. Accordingly in this study the meta-concepts profiled by the multiwords are attained, and the key concept(s) (Ex: joy, fuss, hurry) and the related collocated word-sets (Ex: to hurry up, to be quick, to hustle up), with which the meta-concepts realize in the text, are determined. By means of Cultural and Historical Analysis Method within the framework of Turkish native speakers judgements, cognitive-oriented findings are provided and how the cognition and consciousness representations are created through Turkish multiwords are evaluated: 143 meta-concepts are profiled by Turkish multiwords classified, and the most frequent domains are clarıty, extreme, vexıng and death.
