Reading is a skill that starts with literacy and develops until being a universal reader. Intertexuality is one of these skill levels. Intertextuality arose from the idea that all texts had a relation with previous texts. While the intertextual relations within a text is a fictional characteristic and a way of creativity, it is a way of analysis and explanation for the reader. The reader should be aware of the intertextual plot structure constructed by the author through his own previous reading experiences. Intertextual reader is a reader who has the reading culture. In this study, the intertextual relations in Haldun Taner drama were examined and an intertextual reading sample was presented. Haldun Taner is one the most important authors of Turkish short story, article and drama. Taner, who is a man of cultur in addition to his powerful artistic identity, reflected this characteristic in his works. In order to understand his works, one should be aware of the relationships between his works and the other works. Haldun Taner’s plays can be used as an important component of Turkish language teaching because of their intertextual relations.
