Kültür ve inanç bileşenleriyle adeta bir mozaik olan Lübnan tarih boyunca Ortadoğu’da önemli bir ülke olmuştur. Çeşitli bileşenlerin bir arada yaşaması bir değer olmakla birlikte bu unsurlar iç dinamikler ve bölgesel gelişmelerin etkisiyle zaman zaman farklı tepkiler de göstermiştir. Cumhurbaşkanı Kamil Şem‘un iktidarının özellikle son iki yılında yönetimde akraba ve zümre hâkimiyetinin artması toplumun önemli bir kısmında rahatsızlık yaratmıştır. Gergin ve sancılı geçen 1957 genel seçimleri sonuçları itibariyle de tartışmalı olmuştur. Ülkede yaşanan bir takım olaylardan dolayı 1958 yılının Mayıs ayında muhalefet liderleri muhataplarına grev yapma çağrısında bulunmuştur. Bu çağrıyla birlikte Lübnan’ın birçok yerinde grevler başlamış ve ardından grev ortamı Ekim ayına kadar sürecek olan çatışma ortamını beraberinde getirmiştir. 1958 yılında yaşamış olduğu kriz ülkenin toplumsal ve siyasi tarihinde derin bir iz bırakmıştır. 1958 Lübnan Krizi, Ortadoğu ülkelerinde derin bir endişe yaratmıştır. Bölgedeki birçok ülke gibi Türkiye de krizi yakından takip etmiştir. Krizin başından sonuna kadar Lübnan’da yaşanan olaylar Türkiye’nin ulusal gazetelerine yansımıştır. Lübnan’ı bu derece etkileyen 1958 Krizi’nin, Türkiye tarafından nasıl algılandığını tespit etmek için bu çalışma ele alınmıştır. Türkiye’de Lübnan ile ilgili birçok çalışma olmasına rağmen 1958 Lübnan Krizini gazete temelinde ele alan bir çalışmaya rastlanılmamıştır. Literatürdeki bu boşluktan hareketle Türkiye’nin ulusal gazeteleri olan Akşam, Cumhuriyet, Hürriyet, Milliyet, Ulus ve Vakit taranarak 1958 Lübnan Krizi ile ilgili haberler tespit edilmiştir. Bu haberlerden yola çıkılarak 1958 Lübnan Krizi analiz edilmiştir.
Lebanon, a mosaic with its cultural and religious components, has been an important country in the Middle East throughout its history. Although it is a value that different components live together, these elements have also shown different reactions from time to time under the influence of internal dynamics and regional developments. President Kamil Shem's power, especially in the last two years, has caused an increase in relatives and gendarmeric domination in a significant part of society to discomfort. The tensions and punishments of the general elections of 1957 were also controversial. In May 1958, the opposition leaders called on their counterparts to make a strike. With this call, strikes began in many parts of Lebanon and then the atmosphere of strike brought the atmosphere of conflict that will last until October. The crisis in 1958 left a deep trace in the country’s social and political history. The 1958 Lebanese crisis caused deep concerns in the Middle East countries. As many countries in the region, Turkey has followed the crisis closely. The events in Lebanon from the beginning to the end of the crisis have been reflected in the national newspapers of Turkey. This study was addressed to identify how the 1958 crisis, which affected Lebanon to this extent, was perceived by Turkey. Although there are many studies on Lebanon in Turkey, there has been no study on the 1958 Lebanese crisis based on the newspaper. From this emptiness in literature, the national newspapers of Turkey, Akşam, Republic, Hürriyet, Nation, Nation and Time, scanning the news of the 1958 Lebanese crisis, were identified. This is the result of the 1958 Lebanese crisis.
Forming a mosaic with its culture and belief elements, Lebanon has always been a notable country in the Middle East throughout history. With the coexistence of various elements making up a value, from time to time, those factors have also shown different reactions along with internal dynamics and regional evolvements. The increase of relative and class domination in president Camille Chamoun management especially in the last two years, caused unrest in crucial parts of the society. Nervous and achy 1957 elections were also debatable in terms of their results. In May 1958, opposition leaders called for a strike to their interlocutors due to some events in the country. With this call, many strikes began along different places in the country, which also brought along an environment of conflicts that would take place until October. The crisis it faced in 1958, has left a deep scar in the country’s social and political history. The 1958 Lebanon Crisis has created deep concern in the Middle East countries. Like many countries in the region, Turkey has also closely followed the crisis. The events in Lebanon were reflected in Turkey's national newspapers from the beginning to the end of the crisis. This study was performed in order to identify how the influential 1958 crisis of Lebanon was perceived by the Turkish side. Although there are many studies about Lebanon in Turkey, there was no study that analysed the 1958 Lebanon crisis based on newspapers. From the point of this gap in literature, national newspapers of Turkey; Akşam, Cumhuriyet, Hürriyet, Milliyet, Ulus and Vakit were scanned and news related to the 1958 Lebanon crisis were identified. The crisis was analysed in perspective of gathered news.
