In this study, Turkish simple and complex phrase nouns are studied within the theoretical principles of the Role and Reference Grammar. RRG aims to describesyntax, semantics and pragmatic interaction within various grammatical systems. The main constituent elements of the clause are nucleus that containing the predicate, the core that contains predicative arguments and the periphery layer thatcontains arguments non-predicative. Core, nucleus and peripheral argument areuniversal characteristics of every natural language. In demonstrating the layeredstructure, the verb creates the predicate and in the upper level forms the nucleus.Predicative arguments form the core. Peripheral argument is being connected tothe core. All the elements form the sentence in the upper level. There are fundamental similarities in the structure of NPs and clauses, especially when theNPs are complex derived nominal. The primary correspondence between NPs andclauses in RRG is that both have a layered structure and in both there are operators modifying the layers. In the layered structure of the NP, there is a nominal nucleus and a nominal core consisting of the nucleus and the arguments ofa complex derived nominal
