While fatal diseases have reducing effects on human labour stocks, the work efficiency channel also affects human capital stocks in terms of quality. Furthermore, the increase in the amount of resources allocated for the treatment of diseases has a disruptive effect on the effective distribution of resources by reducing the investment opportunities in more productive areas. In this context, the purpose of this study, which covers the period 1990-2017 is to analyze the causal relationship between diseases, employment efficiency and national income by addressing the cancer sample. The study used symmetrical and time-changing causality tests. The number of cancer patients, the work efficiency index and the income level per person are the variables used in the study. According to the results of the symmetrical causality test, there is no causality relationship between the number of cancer patients and the employment efficiency and the income per person. However, according to the time-changing symmetrical causality test results, there is a causality relationship between the number of cancer patients in 2006, 2008 and 2014 and national income; the number of cancer patients in 2008, 2011, 2014 and 2017 and the efficiency. The periods of simultaneous causality between the number of cancer patients and the efficiency and national income levels are 2008 and 2014.
