Abstract The present study was conducted to determine the effect of the emotional intelligence and service orientation of the students receiving tourism education on their desire to make a career in the sector. In the study conducted in quantitative research design, the relational method was used to test the theoretically proposed model and the hypotheses proposed in the direction of the model. A questionnaire was used as data acquisition technique. The sample group of the research consists of students (n=308) who are studying at the Faculty of Tourism at Selçuk University. In addition to descriptive statistics, regression and correlation analyzes were conducted to test the theoretically proposed model and the hypotheses. According to the results of the research, the effect of emotional intelligence and service orientation on the willingness to make a career in tourism is statistically significant and positive. In addition, it was also found that there is a significant and positive relationship between emotional intelligence and service orientation.
