Lisansüstü eğitim ile doğru bilginin üretimi, eleştirel ve sorgulayıcı yaklaşımın kullanımı, farklı alanlarda mevcut problemlere çözüm bulunması gibi kazanımlar hedeflenmektedir. Eğitimin belirtilen amaçlarına ulaşmasında özgün akademik bilginin en önemli kaynakları arasında doktora tezleri bulunmaktadır. Yapılan bu çalışmada da Türkiye’de liderlik alanında tamamlanmış doktora tezlerinde bilginin üretilmesi konusunda bir değerlendirme yapmak amaçlanmıştır. Bu amaç doğrultusunda son beş yılda Türkiye’de tamamlanmış eğitim yönetimi doktora tezlerine yönelik doküman analizi yapılmıştır. Çalışma materyali olarak 26 doktora tezi seçilmiştir. Çalışma bulgularına göre; doktora tezlerinde liderlik konusunun genel olarak ele alındığı, tezlerde kullanılan değişkenlerin birçoğunun yönetsel kuramlardan oluştuğu, bağımsız değişkenler arasında en fazla cinsiyet ve eğitim değişkenlerinin tercih edildiği belirlenmiştir. Yöntemsel bulgular incelendiğinde; doktora tezlerinin yarısında nicel araştırma yönteminin, daha sonra karma yöntemin kullanıldığı belirlenmiştir. Bilgi üretimine yönelik olarak ise, doktora tezlerinde model geliştirmeye az yer verildiği, kavram veya kuram geliştirmeye ilişkin hiç çalışmanın olmadığı tespit edilmiştir. Tezlerde üretilen bilginin en çok okul yöneticileri ve akademisyenler için üretildiği görülmüştür. Son olarak üretilen bilginin bilimsel işlevine göre, doktora tezlerinin tümünün durum tespitine ve açıklamaya yönelik olduğu, bazı araştırmalarda korelasyon ve yordamanın incelendiği, kontrol işlevine ise neredeyse hiç yer verilmediği belirlenmiştir. Çalışma sonucunda Türkiye’de eğitim yönetimi alanında yapılan doktora tezlerinin kapsamlı bir meta-analizinin yapılması ve belirlenen boşlukları doldurmaya yönelik yeni tezlerin ortaya konulması önerilmiştir.
Graduate education is aimed at achievements such as the production of correct knowledge, the use of critical and questioning approaches, the finding of solutions to existing problems in different fields. PhD theses are among the most important sources of original academic knowledge in achieving the specified objectives of education. In this study, it is also intended to make an assessment of the production of knowledge in the doctoral theses completed in the leadership field in Turkey. In accordance with this objective, the document analysis of the doctoral theses completed in the past five years in Turkey has been carried out. 26 doctoral theses have been selected as the study material. According to the findings of the study, the leadership topic in the doctoral thesis is generally addressed, the many variables used in the thesis are made up of administrative theories, the most gender and educational variables are preferred among independent variables. When methodological findings are studied; in half of the doctoral theses it is determined that the quantum research method was used, then the mixed method. In terms of knowledge production, the doctoral thesis has found that there is little space for model development, there is no study on concept or theory development. The information produced in the theses has been found to be most produced for school managers and academics. According to the scientific function of the latest produced information, it has been determined that all of the doctoral theses are aimed at the identification and explanation of the situation, in some studies the correlation and location are studied, and the control function is almost no place. As a result of the study, a comprehensive meta-analysis of the doctoral theses in the field of education management in Turkey was suggested and the introduction of new theses aimed at filling the specified vacancies.
The purpose of postgraduate education is to produce the accurate information, to provide critical thinking skills and find solutions to existing problems in different areas. Doctoral dissertations are among the most important sources of original academic knowledge in achieving these goals of education. In this study, the purpose is to evaluate academic knowledge production in doctoral dissertations for educational administration in leadership discipline in Turkey for the last five years. For this purpose, document analysis for doctoral thesis are performed. The study material involves 26 selected doctoral thesis. According to the results, the topic of leadership was superficially discussed, most of the variables used in the dissertations consisted of managerial theories, and among the independent variables, gender and education variables were investigated. In terms of methodological results, it was determined that quantitative research method was used in half of the doctoral dissertations, followed by mixed research method. Regarding knowledge production, it has been determined that there is little focus on model development in doctoral dissertations and no studies on concept development or theory formation. It has been observed that the information produced in doctoral thesis is mostly produced for school administrators and academicians. Finally, according to the scientific function of the information produced, it was determined that all doctoral thesis were focused on situation and explaining, and some studies examined correlation and prediction while controlling function was almost never included. In conclusion, it is suggested that a comprehensive meta-analysis of doctoral dissertations should be performed in educational management discipline in Turkey and novel theses or publications should be made to fill identified gaps.
