Kültürel Coğrafya, peyzajın yapısal durum ve değişiminde insani ve kültürel yönlere vurgu yapar. Bu noktada fiziki coğrafya özellikleri de önemli olmakla birlikte insan-doğa etkileşimi sonucu oluşan kültürel ortam, kültürel coğrafya çalışmalarının odak noktasını oluşturmaktadır. Anadolu’nun tarihi coğrafyasında “Kapadokya” adı verilen bölgenin en önemli yerleşim ve inanç merkezlerinden biri Ihlara Vadisidir. Jeolojik ve jeomorfolojik yapının sunduğu imkânların sığınma ve barınma olanaklarını kolaylaştırdığı vadide zaman içerisinde önemli bir kültürel peyzaj alanı ortaya çıkmıştır. Ihlara Özel Çevre Koruma Bölgesi içinde yer alan ve Aksaray İli Güzelyurt ilçesine bağlı Ihlara ve Selime Kasabaları ile Yaprakhisar ve Belisırma Köylerini içine alan Ihlara Vadisi, bu makalenin çalışma alanı olarak belirlenmiştir. Çalışmada bölgenin kültürel açıdan sahip olduğu miras değerleri Kültürel Coğrafyada önemli bir kavram olan “peyzaj/coğrafi görünüm” açısından analiz edilmiştir. Bu analizde bölgenin somut kültür mirasına odaklanılmış, yerleşme, konut, din ve ekonomik faaliyet gibi beşeri etkinliklerin mekân üzerinde bıraktığı izler belirlenmiştir. Devamlılık gösteren hâkim ekonomik faaliyetler tarım ve turizmdir. Bu faaliyetlerin zaman içinde değişim ve gelişimi kültürel peyzaja da yansımıştır. Çalışmada kültürel peyzaj değerleri ve zaman içindeki değişimi, temel veri kaynakları olan saha çalışmaları, basılı ve görsel kaynaklar ile uydu görüntüleri üzerinden incelenmiştir. Görsel kaynak olarak hareketli görsel belge niteliğinde olan sinema filmleri kullanılmıştır. Filmlerde çekim mekânı olarak Ihlara Vadisi’nin kullanım şekli, coğrafi bakış açısıyla incelenmiş; gündelik yaşam faaliyetleri ve kültürel öğelerin film peyzajındaki durumu ortaya koyulmuştur. Bu çalışma, çeçmiş ve günümüz arasındaki kültürel aktarım sürecinde Ihlara vadisinde mekânın kullanımının ve değişiminin ifadesidir.
Cultural Geography emphasizes human and cultural aspects in the structural state and change of the landscape. At this point the physical geographical characteristics are also important, but the cultural environment formed as a result of human-natural interaction, is the focus of cultural geography studies. One of the most important settlements and beliefs centers in the region called "Kapadokya" in the historic geography of Anadolu is Ihlara Valley. In the valley, where the possibilities offered by the geological and geomorphological structure facilitate the possibilities of shelter and accommodation, a significant cultural landscape has emerged over time. Ihlara Special Environmental Protection Area and Ihlara Valley, which is located within the Ihlara and Selime towns and Yaprakhisar and Belisırma villages connected to the Aksaray Ili Güzelyurt district, is determined as the work area of this article. In the study, the cultural heritage values that the region possesses have been analyzed from the perspective of the "peace / geographical appearance" which is an important concept in the Cultural Geography. This analysis focused on the region’s concrete cultural heritage, determined the traces that human activities such as settlement, housing, religion and economic activity left on the site. The dominant economic activities are agriculture and tourism. The change and development of these activities over time has also reflected the cultural landscape. The study studied cultural landscape values and the change over time, field studies, which are the basic data sources, printed and visual sources, and satellite images. The film was used as a visual source as a moving visual documentary. The way Ihlara Valley is used as a filming place in the films has been studied from a geographical point of view; the daily life activities and the status of cultural elements in the film landscape have been revealed. This study is an expression of the use and change of the space in the Ihlara Valley in the process of cultural transfer between the varied and today.

The use of Ihlara Valley as a shooting location in the movies was examined from a geographical point of view; the situation of daily life activities and cultural elements in the film landscape has been revealed. This study is the expression of the use and change of space in the Ihlara valley in the cultural transfer process between the past and the present.
