Abstract:

The Covid-19 pandemic has been on the global agenda for a long time. The pandemic has affected social and psychological life alongside health, and has created a crisis in cultural, economic and political areas. The Covid-19 pandemic has also shown to us the need to be prepared for global epidemics, disasters and crises that are likely to be encountered in the future. This preparation to be done is established by the experience that this preparation will not be limited to the field of health and that the involvement of the work in the field of social sciences in this process will produce more functional results. From the importance of interdisciplinary studies in the fight against the epidemic, Fahri Çakı took over the editorial role, the book "Maskeli, Distant and Crushing: Pandemic Conditions of Modernity" in which 29 social scientists participated in 23 studies was published in 2020. Fahri Çakı, who conducted his research in the field of social sciences, has done studies on identity, youth, body immigration. In addition to these topics, the foundation of the pandemic phenomenon and not seen sufficient interest in Turkey has conducted advanced studies in the field of catastrophic sociology. The knowledge and experience of the field has been influential in the appearance of the book.
