Özet:

Translation plays an important role, not only in communication between people of different nationalities, but also in the development of politics, culture, and society. Many works have been translated from Persian to Turkish, and the languages have been in interaction for centuries. In this study, Turkish translations of Leila and Majnun, one of the masnavi of the Iranian poet Nizami Ganjavi, by Ali Nihat Tarlan (1965), A. Naci Tokmak (2013) and Samed Vurgun (2019) are evaluated according to the concept of rewriting put forward by the Belgian scientist André Lefevere. The general framework of the study is determined by first considering the concept of rewriting in general terms. This study includes three parts. In the first part, information is provided about the concept of rewriting in translation, as advocated by André Lefevere. In the second part, brief information about the source text and its author are provided to justify the study. In the third chapter, translator comments and translation strategies are determined with the examples taken from source and target texts in line with the concept of rewriting, which claims to transfer works to different cultures through translation. The study aims to determine the appearance of the source text transfer in the target texts, whether the translator adds or removes something, and the translator’s rewriting action.
