Egemen ulus devletlerin mücadele platformu olan uluslararası siyasal sistem, her ne kadar hukuksal açıdan devletleri eşit kabul etse de devletlerarası ilişkilerde gücün hala ana belirleyici unsur olduğu kabul görmektedir. Dolayısıyla devletlerin uluslararası alandaki etki gücü de sahip oldukları güçle doğru orantılıdır. Bu durum Türkiye için de aynı şekilde gözlemlenmektedir. Türkiye’nin batı ülkeleriyle olan ilişkisi ülkenin modernleşme süreciyle doğrudan bağlantılıdır. Bu ilişki sürecinde çeşitli iniş ve çıkış dönemleri olmuştur. Bu inişçıkışların ardındaki temel motivasyonun güce ulaşma çabası olduğu iddia edilebilir. 15 Temmuz darbe girişiminin de bu bakış açısıyla değerlendirilmesi mümkündür.
The international political system, which is the platform for the struggle of the sovereign national states, is recognized as the main determining element of power in interstate relations, although it equally accepts the states from a legal point of view. Therefore, the influence of the states in the international field is also proportionate to the power they have. The situation is observed in the same way for Turkey. The relations of Turkey with the Western countries are directly linked to the modernization process of the country. There have been various periods of landing and exit during this relationship. It can be claimed that the main motivation behind these landings is an effort to reach power. The 15th July coup attempt can also be assessed from this point of view.

Turkey’s relations with the Western countries are directly linked to the modernatization process of the country. There have been various ups and downs durin this relationship. It can be argued that the main motivation behind these ups and downs is the effort to reach power. It is possible to evaluate the July 15 coup attempt with this perspective.
