İnsan, Kur’an’da Allah’ın halifesi olması için, Allah’ın bizzat eliyle yarattığı, kendi ruhundan üflediği, diğer varlıkların kabul etmediği emaneti kabul eden ve ahsen-i amele ulaşması hedef gösterilen varlık olarak anlatılmaktadır. Bu açıklamalar içinde en dikkati çeken ve insanın varlığının temelinde yer alan husus ona “Allah’ın ruhundan üflemesidir.” Bu konu, Hristiyanların ve Hulûliyye fırkasının kulun Allah ile ilişkisi bağlamındaki yanlış yorumları ve içinden çıkılamayan tartışmaların da etkisiyle tarihte ve günümüzde birçok kişi tarafından hakkında konuşulmayan veya mümkün olduğu kadar az konuşulan bir mevzuya dönüşmüştür. Bu durum gerçekliğin bir tarafını oluşturmakla birlikte tüm dönemlerde ruha, mahiyetine ve insana ruh üflenmesinin anlamına dair açıklamalar da yapılmıştır. İnsana ruh üflenmesi Kur’an’da açıklanmaktadır. Bundan dolayı meselenin tüm boyutlarıyla anlaşılması için farklı tefsir ekollerine bağlı müfessirlerin görüşlerinin araştırılarak bir sonuca ulaşılması elzem olduğundan bu çalışma tefsir kaynakları üzerinden yapılmıştır. Müfessirlerin izahlarından insana Allah’ın ruh üflenmesinin farklı anlam boyutlarına sahip olduğu, bir kısmının konuya dair mümkün olduğu kadar az yorum yaptıkları görülmekle birlikte, bazı âlimlerin insana ruh üflenmesini insanın canlanması, üflenen ruhun ve Hz. Âdem’in/insanın teşrif, tekrim ve tahsisi merkezli açıkladıkları görülmektedir. Farklı ekollere bağlı birçok müfessirin ise konuyu, insanın ilahi sıfatların yansımasına sahip olması, Allah’ın halifeliği, insanın metafizik boyutu, insan ufkunun maddi âlemin ötesine geçmesi merkezinde izah ettikleri anlaşılmaktadır. Sonuç olarak herhangi bir ekole bağlı kalmadan konuyla ilgili izahlar bütüncül olarak okunduğunda insana Allah’ın ruhundan üflenmesinin çamurdan yaratılan varlığın canlandırılarak ahsen-i takvîm hale getirilmesi, Allah katında değerli, seçkin, potansiyeli en geniş ve ufku en açık varlık olmasının sebebi olduğu anlaşılmaktadır. Ruh konusunun insanın akletme de dâhil tüm faaliyetlerinin, ıslah ve ifsadının merkezi olarak anlatılan kalble de sıkı ilişkili olduğu görülmektedir. Huşu, takva, ihsân, muhabbetullah, basiret, Allah ile beraberlik gibi konuların doğru ve derinlikli izahının da ancak ruh üflenmesinin boyutları kavrandığında en iyi şekilde anlaşılabileceği söylenebilir. Bu durumda ruh konusu tamamen bilinmeyen değil, birçok konu gibi künhüne sadece Allah’ın vakıf olduğu konulardan biri olmaktadır. Modern dönemde yaygın olan bilim anlayışında ruha ve ilahi hakikatlere yer verilmemesi, insanın, hayatın ve varlığın ruhsuzlaştırılması ve insanı herhangi bir seçkinliği olmayan sıradan bir varlığa dönüştürürken, insana ruh üflenmesinin ise bu algının tam tersine insanın seçkinlik ve biricikliğini anlattığı görülmektedir
