Abstract:

As a result of the Industrial Revolution, there has been intense migration from the countryside to the cities, and this has brought along many problems, especially in the areas where the working class is concentrated in industrialized cities. In order to find a solution to the housing problem that has occurred, social housing has been started to be built in series and has continued with different application forms according to the countries until today. In Turkey, after 1984, the Mass Housing Administration (MHA) started to take a role in mass housing production. In the study, the urban development of Cizre and MHA practices are evaluated, and the Bozalan Mass Housing Area in Konak District is examined in the context of environmental sustainability. In the literature, the limited number of studies dealing with the urban development of Cizre and the absence of studies evaluating the mass housing practices in the city have been effective in the choice of Cizre as a case. The city of Cizre is a settlement that has received immigration in certain years, and today it continues to grow in area. There is a need for an effective transportation system that will connect the examined Bozalan mass housing area with the city center and different designs that address the local characteristics of the city. For this, sustainable planning studies are required.
