Industry 4.0 concept was first appeared in 2012 in Germany. When it compared the other industrial revolutions, cyber physical systems, internet of things and networks are some of latest elements of fourth industrial revolution, instead of automation technology of third industrial revolution, mass production, assembly line and electrical energy of second industrial revolution and mechanization and steam power technology of first industrial revolution. Ports also quite changed since 1960s 1st generation of ports. First generation of ports was simple interface between ship and land. In the second generation some ports offered transport and distribution. Use of information technologies started with third generation and increased in fourth generation, also ports started to provide integrated logistics services in fourth generation. In the fifth generation use of information and communication technologies (ICT) reached advanced level and ports started to participate in satellite tracking of the cargo that they generate. Current literature claims that now it’s the 6th generation era of ports with industry 4.0 technologies. In this regard the aim of the study is to investigate use of industry 4.0 technologies in Turkish ports. In order to analyze industry 4.0 implications on Turkish Ports, case study is used and data gathered via interview method in this study. Data collected via the mail and telephone callings. Findings of the study asserts that, use of industry 4.0 technologies are very rare in Turkish ports yet.
