The aim of this research is to examine theses on alternative education in Turkey. Qualitative research method was preferred. Document analysis was used for analysis of the data. Findings theses in the field of alternative education were conducted between 1999 and 2021, the most theses were made in 2019, followed by 2018 and 2020. 92% of theses are master's and 8% are doctoral theses. 43% of theses were conducted in social sciences institutes, 37% in educational sciences institutes, 11% in science institutes, 5% in health sciences institutes and 4% in graduate education institutes. 21% of the theses were conducted in the department of primary education, 10% in the department of educational sciences and 10% in the department of basic education. Qualitative research method was used in 59% of the theses, quantitative research method was used in 35% and mixed research method was used in 6% of them. Montessori method was studied in 57% of the theses and the Reggio Emilia method was studied in 10%, and Summerhill school model, unschooled education, Techno-organic method, Yasnaya Polyana school and Magnet school were studied only once.
