Aim: To present the case of a patient with giant uterine leiomyoma.Case: A 47-year-old premenopausal presented with a history of menometroragia from last 3 months but abdominal distention and myoma uteri history for a period of approximately 7 years. Physical examination revealed a huge abdominal mass and an umbilical hernia. Her hemoglobin level was 7.1 g/dl. Ultrasonography and MRI examination showed a large mass that filled the abdomen. The patient underwent laparotomy, total hysterectomy and bilateral salpingo-ooferectomy. The histology revealed a leiomyoma weighing 9.8 kilograms.Conclusion: Patients with giant myomas are unusual cases. Conscientious perioperative management and multidisciplinary patient care are essential to prevent morbidity and mortality.
