The aim of this study was and to test the validity and reliability of the “Athlete Engagement Questionnaire” developed by Lonsdale et al. (2007a) and adapted into Turkish for the 14-18 age group by Kelecek et al. (2018). Athlete engagement questionnaire was administered to 389 (Mage: 15.94 ± 1.31) athletes, 148 girls and 241 males. The data obtained were analyzed by frequency, mean, standard deviation, t test, exploratory and confirmatory factor analysis. The internal consistency of the questionnaire was calculated with the Cronbach Alpha internal consistency coefficient and was found between 0.82 (enthusiasm) and 0.86 (confidence). For construct validity, the differences between the mean scores of the lower 27% and upper 27% groups, which were formed according to the item-total score correlation and the total scores of the items, were analyzed using t-test. Exploratory factor analysis (EFA) was performed and it was seen that the factors of the scale were consistent with the original and were grouped under four sub-dimensions. As a result of Varimax rotation, the items explain 69% of the questionnaire. In the confirmatory factor analysis (CFA), the load value of each item on the subscale is above 0.50, error values below 0.90, and it was found to be x2/sd=2.56, NFI=0.90, IFI=0.93, CFI=0.95, GFI=0.90, AGFI=0.86 RMSEA=0.075. According to the result of the study, it is seen that it is possible to use the "Athlete Engagement Scale" in a valid and reliable manner in the 14-18 age group in order to determine their commitment to sports.
