In the article, the science of recitation has been discussed from the first days of the Ottoman Empire to the last days of the Ottoman Empire with its different aspects. While mentioning the science of Qiraat, which was taught until the foundation of the Republic, the historical course of this science, its teaching method, institutions and the content of its basic works were highlighted. The main purpose of examining this subject is to consider the formation and development process of the science of Qiraat in the Ottoman history to reach the data related to the position of this science in Ottoman history. Therefore, in the article, after a short explanation about the entry of the aforementioned science into the Anatolian lands, its place in the Ottoman Empire, educational institutions, education method and the basic sources of the science of Qiraat in the Ottoman period are mentioned. Thus, depending on the data obtained, the history of the science of recitation, educational venues, programs, curricula, etc. In line with the information about its aspects, the situation in the Ottoman period was tried to be made clear. This article, by examining the mentioned issues in terms of Ottoman recitation science from different aspects It will help scientific studies on the subject. The science of Qiraat will be revealed from different angles in the period from the Ottoman Empire to the Republic, which has not been studied independently before. In the light of the data obtained, it was concluded that the study of qiraat was institutionalized like other sciences, formed its own literature, in short, the science of qiraat developed throughout the Ottoman history and strengthened its existence. From another point of view, this research, in its current form, is a type of review that can be referenced as a supplementary resource as well as basic resources.
