So many results that aren't mine?

The Greater City Municipalities and Competition Strategies

As a widespread agreement in literature, global market conditions have enforced localities to be more competitive. In this context competition means to become more proactive and entrepreneurial. This study attempts to indicate competitive attitudes of eight Turkish greater city municipalities by penetrating subtitles of strategic plans -vision, strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats- which manifest basic policy directions. In this analysis it can be easily seen that Turkish metropolitan government system substantially routing in a competitive world by identifying global scale for its future. By so doing Turkish greater city municipalities have utilize public facilities in accordance with local growth approach relying on market conditions instead of redistribution of them according to equity between local residents. It is evaluated that this process may increase the financial dependency of metropolitan system to global forces and removal of cities from its real owners.
