Suriye, Filistin ve Mısır coğrafyasında sürüp giden Haçlı seferleri, özellikle 1291’den sonra Anadolu coğrafyasının yeni efendisi Osmanlılar ile farklı safhalarla devam etmiştir. Bu süreç içerisinde, Doğu ile Batı arasında bir taraftan düşmanlıklar üretilip savaşlar yapılırken, diğer taraftan da halı gibi değerli ürünler kanalıyla Avrupa’ya bir kültür ve medeniyet transferi gerçekleştirilmeye başlamıştır. Suriye’deki Haçlı lordlarının evlerini ve farklı mekânlarını süsleyen halılar, onlara aynı zamanda Doğu’da neler elde ettiklerinin de cevaplarından birisini vermiştir. Halı, Sûr’da yapılan bir Haçlı düğününden, Beyrut’taki Haçlı senyörünün sarayına kadar pek çok olaya ayna tutmuş ve seferlerin gerçek nedenlerinin anlaşılmasına katkı sağlamıştır. Bizans’ın özellikle Antakya Haçlıları ve Anadolu’daki Türklerle olan ilişkilerinde de halı üzerinden yaşanan bazı olaylar, seferlerin farklı bir çehresini ortaya koymuştur. Daha sonra Osmanlıların Bizans tekfurları ve imparatorları ile olan ilişkilerinde halının söz konusu edildiği detaylar, bir devletin nasıl kurulup yükseldiğini de gözler önüne sermiştir. Öte yandan Venedikliler ve Portekizlilerle ittifak arayışına giren İran’daki Safevîlerin halı üzerinden yürüttükleri iktisadî savaşlar ise seferlere yeni bir boyut kazandırmış, Haçlı seferlerinin hangi cephelere yayıldığını farklı bir cepheden ortaya koymuştur.
The Crusades, which continued in Syria, Palestine and Egypt, continued with different characteristics, especially after 1291, with the new master of Anatolian geography, the Ottomans. In this process, while hostilities and wars were fought between the East and the West, on the other hand, a culture and civilization transfer to Europe began to be realized through valuable products such as carpets. The carpets that adorned the houses and different places of the Crusader lords in Syria also gave them one of the answers to what they had achieved in the East. The carpet mirrored many events, from a Crusader wedding in Sur to the palace of the Crusader lord in Beirut, and contributed to the understanding of the real reasons for the expeditions. Some events on the carpet, especially in the relations of Byzantium with the Crusaders of Antakya and the Turks in Anatolia, revealed a different face of the expeditions. Afterwards, the details about the carpet in the relations of the Ottomans with the Byzantine monarchs and emperors also revealed how a state was founded and rose. On the other hand, the economic wars waged by the Safavids in Iran, who sought alliances with the Venetians and the Portuguese, added a new dimension to the campaigns and explained which fronts the Crusades spread to
