İbn Ebî Hâtim’in (öl. 327/938) el-Cerḥ ve’t-taʿdîl adlı eseri, hicrî ilk üç asırdaki ricâl çalışma-larına ışık tutması açısından oldukça önemli bir kaynaktır. Özellikle kitabına yazdığı giriş mahiyetindeki Taḳdime bölümü, cerh-taʿdîl faaliyetlerini hoca-talebe ilişkileri bağlamında takip etmek isteyen araştırmacılar için yol gösterici bir niteliğe sahiptir. İbn Ebî Hâtim Taḳdime’de, Mâlik b. Enes’ten başlayarak babası Ebû Hâtim’e kadar on sekiz muhaddis zikretmiş ve bunların münekkit olduğuna işaret eden rivayetlere yer vermiştir. Münekkit olarak belirlediği kişilerin ricâle dair kanaatlerini bir araya getirmek için büyük çaba gös-termiş ve başta bu münekkitlerin talebeleri olmak üzere, pek çok kimse ile irtibata geç-miştir. Bu isimlerden bazılarının meclislerinde bulunmuş ve kitaplarını kıraat veya semâ yoluyla almış, bazılarıyla da yazışmak (mükâtebe) suretiyle irtibata geçmiştir. Yazışmak suretiyle elde ettiği metinler hem kitabının oluşumunda yardımcı kaynak olma görevini üstlenmiş hem de birçok münekkidin değerlendirmelerine ulaşmasını sağlamıştır. Bu çalışmada, ilk olarak İbn Ebî Hâtim’in mükâtebe yoluyla irtibata geçtiği muhaddisler ile bunların kendisine gönderdiği yazılı belgelerin içeriği tespit edilmeye çalışılacaktır. Daha sonra da seçilen örnek tercemelerden hareketle bu yolla elde ettiği metinlerin el-Cerḥ ve’t-taʿdîl’e katkısı sayısal olarak ortaya koyulacaktır.

Some of these names were found in the councils, and they took their books by means of curate or semah, and some of them were contacted by means of writing (mukâtebe). The text he obtained through the form of the book has taken over the task of being a source of help in the formation of the book and has made it possible to reach the assessments of many monks. In this study, it will be attempted to identify the contents of the written documents they have sent to him, first by the communications of Ibn ‘Abî Hâtim through the Mykâtebe.
