Abstract:

In the development achievements provided by the preservation of historical environments, the preservation of industrial heritage holds an important place. In the context of industrial heritage, traditional forms of production are local cultural values and disappear due to technological developments. The reanimation of abandoned traditional forms of production or being part of a protection plan to be developed on a regional scale will contribute to the region and the country’s economy, while ensuring that these values are preserved and the development of the protection consciousness of the community in its settlement. The consciousness of protection is an advanced society that will fulfill the task of transmitting cultural values to future generations by understanding its responsibility. With this responsibility, a abandoned form of production in Turkey, traditional bulgurculus, Mut bulgurhouses and the cultural landscape that it creates are discussed in the article as a production heritage. The amount of grain and grain grown in the past in Mut is excessive but is insufficient to be processed and marketed in various products. In Karaman, although there is enough grain, the climate conditions are not suitable for traditional bulgur production. The process of drying in the sun during the processing of grain is the outcome point of Mut bulgurity. In the middle of the twentieth century, the bulgurculus, which began in Mut, first in the various places of the district, then in the Bulgurculus Street, was effectivelyined for about a century, with the transition to machine production in the early twentieth first century, the traditional bulgurculus almost disappeared. Although not used today, the traditional bulgurhane buildings and machinery in the Discovery Street should be protected as a production heritage, and the gardens and warehouses belonging to the feed of the grandchildren, the homes of the workers and employers and other persons living in the neighborhood, the social tissue and urban landscape items. Those values that have disappeared over time, although it is impossible to turn into old, by forming the main topic of a plan of protection to be proposed for the entire district, the district can be protected by an integrated planning approach in line with its high-scale environmental arrangement plans, along with all the areas necessary, and by contributing to the district, the region and the country’s economy, thanks to the tourism income resulting from its promotion and exhibition at national and international scale. In this context; production heritage Mut bulgurhouses have been promoted and the importance of a protection plan to be carried out for the whole of the Mut District has been emphasized.
