Purpose: In this study, it was aimed to determine the job engagement and job satisfaction levels of librarians working in "contracted" status in public libraries serving under the General Directorate of Libraries and Publications of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism (Kütüphaneler ve Yayımlar Genel Müdürlüğü) and to reveal the relationship between job engagement and job satisfaction. The integrative goal of the research is to analyze whether there is a significant relationship between the demographic variables of the participants and their job engagement and job satisfaction. Method: In the study, the descriptive method was used both in the construction of the concepts of work engagement and job satisfaction and in the systematic presentation of the relevant studies in the literature. The survey technique was used to measure the job engagement and job satisfaction levels of contracted librarians and to correlate the two concepts. The questionnaire, which was prepared using the Minnesota Satisfaction Questionnaire and the Utrecht Engagement Scale, was answered by 257 librarians employed as “contracted librarians” in public libraries. Findings: The data collected from the participants were examined and analyzed according to the determined hypothesis. According to the findings, it was revealed that the job satisfaction levels of the librarians participating in the research were high, and there was a significant relationship between their job satisfaction levels and their job engagement levels. Conclusion: From the analysis of the data, it was concluded that the "contracted" status did not negatively affect the job satisfaction and work engagement processes of the library staff and that there was no significant relationship between the demographic variables of the contracted library staff and their job engagement and job satisfaction levels. Originality: The study in which engagement and job satisfaction are handled together and in association with each other in the field of information and records management in our country is a first in this respect. Likewise, the association of the aforementioned concepts with "contracted" librarians and professional functioning, which defines a multivariate different employee group in working life, is also a pioneer in terms of national literature. It is considered that the study is significant due to its pioneering nature and its results.
