Mimarlık öğrencileri, proje derslerinde tasarladıkları yapıların uygulanabilirliği konusunda bir takım bilgi eksiklikleri yaşamaktadırlar. Bu eksikliklerin giderilmesi için, eğitim süresince yapı ile ilgili destek dersleri verilmektedir. Bu derslerde, verilen bilgilerin pekiştirilmesi doğrultusunda, maket yapımı; yapı bilgisi derslerinde öğrenmenin önemli bir tamamlayıcısı haline gelmektedir. Bu çalışmada, mimarlık öğrencilerinin üç boyutlu görsel algılarını artıracak ve edinim biçimlerini geliştirecek maket yapımı yöntemi kullanılmaktadır. Çalışmanın kapsamını; Ondokuz Mayıs Üniversitesi, Mimarlık Fakültesi, Mimarlık Bölümü, 2019-2020 Eğitim Öğretim Yılı Güz Dönemi’nde verilen “Yapı Bilgisi I” dersi kapsamında uygulanan 1/10 ölçek ve 30x30 cm boyutlarındaki maket çalışmaları oluşturmaktadır. Çalışma ile öğrencilerin ileriye yönelik hem tasarım, hem de maket çalışmalarında kullanabilecekleri bilgilerle donatılmaları hedeflenmiştir. Bununla birlikte, araştırmanın öğrencilere sağladığı katkılar ve bazı eksikliklerin belirlenebilmesi amacıyla dönem sonunda bir anket çalışması gerçekleştirilmiştir. Öğrencilerin, çalışma kapsamında hazırlanan anket sorularına verdiği cevaplar ile de, maket çalışması ile derste işlenen konuların daha iyi kavrandığı, yapı malzemeleri konusunda bilgi düzeylerinin arttığı, çalışmanın proje derslerinde de yararlı olduğu sonuçları ortaya çıkmıştır. Bu doğrultuda, mimarlık eğitiminde proje atölyelerine destek olarak işlenen yapı bilgisi derslerinde maket uygulamalarının gerçekleştirilmesinin öğrencilere mesleki açıdan büyük bir katkı ve avantaj sağlayacağı ortaya koyulmaktadır. Çalışma sonucunda gerek bölüm müfredat içeriği, gerekse ders içeriği ve uygulaması üzerine bazı özlü önerilerde bulunulmaktadır.
Architecture students experience some deficiencies in the applicability of the structures they designed in the project studios. Some supporting lessons are given during the training to overcome these deficiencies. In these lessons, model making becomes an essential reinforcement to learning in building construction lessons. In this study, a model-making method is used to increase the three-dimensional visual perceptions of architecture students and to improve their acquisition styles. The study's scope consists of 1/10 scale and 30x30 cm-scale model studies applied in the Building Information I course given in the Fall Semester of the 2019-2020 Academic Year in the Department of Architecture of Ondokuz Mayıs University. The study aimed to equip students with information that they can use in both forward-looking design and model studies. Besides, a questionnaire study was carried out to determine the contribution of the research to students. The results of the questionnaire revealed that the subjects covered in the course were better comprehended. The level of knowledge about building materials increased, and the study was also useful in the project lessons. In this context, it is revealed that performing model applications in building information courses in architectural education will provide an outstanding contribution and advantage. In conclusion, some succinct suggestions are made on the course content and the curriculum of the departments.
