Herpetic whitlow is the infection of fingers by herpes simplex virus (HSV) type 1 or 2. It is frequently caused by autoinoculation of herpes gingivostomatitis and usually one finger of a hand is involved. Here we present a case of an 11-year-old girl having herpetic whitlow by autoinoculation of herpes gingivostomatitis during a febrile neutropenia period while being treated with intense chemotherapy consisting of fludarabin, cytosine arabinoside and idarubicin for a T cell leukemia relapse
