Turkish Act on Private International Law and International Civil Procedure (numbered 5718) provides for specific rules as regards consumer contracts with a foreign element, aiming for the protection of consumers in private international law. In this regard while the law applicable to such contracts is subject to Article 26, international jurisdiction of Turkish courts is determined according to Article 45. This paper is limited with the latter subject and provides for discussions on the features and scope of Article 45, the jurisdiction provisions in the said Article as well as on whether jurisdiction clauses in consumer contracts are permitted under Article 47 (2) of the Act
