Günümüzde dijital ödeme sistemleri, birçok insanın günlük yaşantısında vazgeçilmez hale gelmiştir. Elektronik ticaretin hızla yaygınlaşması dijital ödeme sistemlerine olan talebi arttırmıştır. Bu artış ise hem finansal sistem içerisinde işlem yapabilme kabiliyetini hem de finansal sistemin gelişmesini etkileyebilme potansiyeline sahiptir. Dijital ödeme sistemleri, finansal pazarlara erişim ve derinlik üzerinde önemli bir etkiye sahiptir. Geleneksel finansal işlemlerde kullanılan nakit veya fiziksel ödeme araçlarına kıyasla, dijital ödemelerin yaygınlaşmasıyla birlikte finansal pazarlara erişim kolaylaşmış ve derinlik artmıştır. Bu sistemler, finansal hizmetlere erişimi kolaylaştırırken, finansal pazarların büyümesine ve çeşitlenmesine de katkıda bulunmaktadır. Dijital ödemelerin yaygınlaşmasıyla birlikte, gelecekte finansal pazarlarda daha fazla yenilik ve fırsatların ortaya çıkması beklenmektedir. Bu bağlamda çalışmada, dijital ödeme sistemlerinin finansal pazarlara erişime ve finansal derinliğe olan etkisi incelenmiştir. Bu amaçla çalışmada kullanılan değişkenler Dünya Bankası Finansal Gelişmişlik Veri Bankası ve Bankalararası Kart Merkezinden elde edilmiş ve 1990-2020 dönemini kapsayan yıllık verilerdir. Söz konusu değişkenler arasındaki ilişki ADRL sınır testi ile analiz edilmiştir. Çalışma bulgularına göre Finansal Pazarlara Erişim Endeksi değişkeni ile kredi kartı sayısı, banka kartı sayısı, pos cihazı sayısı ve ATM sayısı, Finansal Pazar Derinlik Endeksi değişkeni ile tüm açıklayıcı değişkenler, Finansal Pazar Derinlik Endeksi ile bağımsız değişkenler, Finansal Pazarlara Erişim Endeksi ile açıklayıcı değişkenler Finansal Pazar Derinlik Endeksi ile bağımsız değişkenler arasında pozitif yönlü korelasyon tespit edilmiştir.
Today, digital payment systems have become indispensable in the daily lives of many people. The rapid expansion of electronic commerce has increased the demand for digital payment systems. This increase has the potential to affect both the ability to transact within the financial system and the development of the financial system. Digital payment systems have a significant impact on access to and depth of financial markets. Compared to cash or physical payment instruments used in traditional financial transactions, the widespread use of digital payments has facilitated access to financial markets and increased their depth. These systems facilitate access to financial services and contribute to the growth and diversification of financial markets. With the proliferation of digital payments, more innovations and opportunities are expected to emerge in financial markets in the future.In this context, this study examines the impact of digital payment systems on access to financial markets and financial depth. For this purpose, the variables used in the study are annual data obtained from the World Bank Financial Development Databank and the Interbank Card Center covering the period 1990-2020. The relationship between these variables is analyzed with the ADRL bounds test. According to the findings of the study, there is a positive correlation between the Access to Financial Markets Index variable and the number of credit cards, the number of debit cards, the number of POS devices and the number of ATMs, the Financial Market Depth Index variable and all explanatory variables, the Financial Market Depth Index and independent variables, the Access to Financial Markets Index and explanatory variables, and the Financial Market Depth Index and independent variables.
