Özet:

This study deals with the meaning of the concepts of "obe-religion and following" which are sometimes used with the same meanings and gives their use in the Qur'an. Giving the same me-anings to these concepts causes some loss of meaning in the transfer of verses. Also, the reflection on verses of the difference of meanings related to these concepts and the use of the latter in verses is a matter of curiosity. In this context, the use of these concepts both in the Meccan verses but also in the Medinan ver-ses is one of the important stages of the research. Because besi-des the general use of these concepts in the Qur'an, the data on the prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) will contribute par-ticularly to the understanding of this semantic difference. Is there any difference between the Meccan and the Medinan verses when it is the question of the Prophet Muhammad? Otherwise, are both concepts used in the same way in both Meccan and Medinan ver-ses for Muhammad? Identifying all of these will reveal the dimen-sions of using both concepts in the Qur'an.
