Toplumlarda mevcut olan ortak bakış açıları ve kimi değer yargılarının etkilediği birey etkinliklerinin genelini ihtiva eden kültür kavramı özelinde oldukça önemli bir yere haiz olan halk inanışları; bir toplumun sosyo-dini açıdan yaşam dünyasına ve sosyo-psikolojik açıdan da ruhsal evreninin, olay ve olgulara bakış açısının ve algılama şeklinin daha iyi anlaşılması adına incelenmesi önemlidir. Din, Bireylerin hayat sahnesine dair bakış açılarını ve toplumsal olarak da değer yargılarının oluşması açısından ve bu yargıları etkileyen en önemli unsurdur. Toplumun dini algılayış ve yaşayış biçimi olarak da ifade edebileceğimiz halk inanışları ile dinsel unsurlar birbirinden bağımsız olmayıp iç içedir denilebilir. Tarihin en kadim milletlerinden birisi olan Türkler, oldukça derin ve zengin bir kültüre sahiptirler. Bu zengin kültür mirasının içerisinde; Türklerin tarih sahnesine varlık gösterdiği kadim çağlardan günümüze değin geçen zaman diliminde, birçok dinsel inanış kalıntı ve izleri bulunmaktadır. Tüm bu iz ve kalıntılar, tarihi süreç içerisinde sosyo-dini inanç ve pratikleri etkileyen dinsel bir kimliğe bürünmüştür. Günümüz toplumlarının yaşam alanlarında mevcudiyetini sürdüren birçok inanışın ana kaynağı bu kimlikte saklıdır. Bireyin ve aidiyetini devam ettirdiği toplumun kadim inanışlarını tanımak ve anlamlandırmak adına yaptığımız bu çalışma anılan kimliği ve taşıdığı kültür izlerini tanıma adına önem arz etmektedir. Eski ve yeni inanç kalıplarını kendi kimlik kodlarında saklayan her toplulukta olduğu gibi yapmış olduğumuz “Samsat Yöresi Halk İnanışları” adlı bu çalışma ile Samsat ilçesinde de varlığını koruyarak devam ettiren kimi halk inanışları incelenmiştir. Böylece yöre insanının değer yargıları ve hayata bakış açılarının temelinde varlığını hissettiren inanışların ortaya çıkarılmasına ve halk kültürünün gelecek kuşaklara aktarımına katkı sağlanmaya çalışılmıştır.
People’s beliefs, which have a very important place in the concept of culture, which includes the general activity of the common views and some values influenced in societies; it is important that a society, from a socio-religious point of view to the world of life and from a socio-psychological point of view to the spiritual universe, the point of view and the way of perception of events and events, be studied for a better understanding. Religion is the most important element that affects individuals’ views on the life stage and the formation of their social and valuable judgments and these judgments. The religious perception and way of life of society can also be expressed as the people's beliefs and religious elements are not independent of each other and can be said to be inherent. The Turks, one of the oldest nations in history, have a very deep and rich culture. Within this rich cultural heritage, in the period from the ancient times to the present day, in which the Turkish people existed on the historical stage, there are many remains and traces of religious beliefs. All these traces and remains have been drawn into a religious identity that has influenced social-religious beliefs and practices during the historical process. The main source of many beliefs that remain present in the areas of life of today’s societies is hidden in this identity. This work we do in the name of recognizing and understanding the ancient beliefs of the individual and society in which he continues to belong, is important in the name of recognizing the mentioned identity and cultural traces he carries. The old and new patterns of belief have been studied as we have done in each community that hides their own identity codes with this work called "Samsat area people's beliefs" and some people's beliefs have continued to preserve their existence in the Samsat district. Thus, it has been attempted to contribute to the discovery of beliefs that make people feel their existence on the basis of their values judgments and views of life, and to the transfer of popular culture to future generations.
