Molla Sadrâ Safevî döneminde yaşamış bir felsefeci olması yanı sıra sufî bir müfessirdir. Tefsiru’l-Kur’âni’l-Kerîm adlı tefsirinde naklî ve aklî hususlara yer verdiği gibi irfan, keşf, remz gibi hususlara da yer vermiştir. Sadrâ, sahip olduğu ilmi birikiminden dolayı kelam ve felsefe gibi disiplinleri kullandığı gibi tasavvufla ilgili kavram ve konuları da incelemiş ve bunları ayetlerin anlaşılmasında istihdam etmiştir.
