"Yedek subaylık", Birinci Dünya Savaşı öncesinde Osmanlı ordu düzeninin bir parçasıydı. Avrupa´da başlayan savaş ve sonrasında ilan edilen genel seferberlik ile birlikte Osmanlı ordusunun subay açığını karşılamak amacıyla çok sayıda tahsilli genç, yedek subay olarak orduya alındı. Birinci Dünya Harbi boyunca farklı cephelerde savaşan yedek subaylar, harbin sona ermesiyle birlikte ordudan terhis edildi. Orduya katılmadan önceki toplumsal statülerini kaybeden yedek subaylar, seslerini duyurabilmek amacıyla farklı isimler altında dernekler kurdu. Mustafa Kemal Paşa´nın liderliğinde Anadolu´da başlayan direniş hareketiyle birlikte çok sayıda yedek subay Milli Mücadele´ye katıldı. Milli Mücadele sonrasında barış sürecine geçilmesiyle birlikte yedek subaylar ordudan terhis edildi. Terhis olan yedek subayların durumu, yaşam koşullarının iyileştirilmesi Mustafa Kemal Paşa´nın ve hükümetin öncelikli meselesi oldu. Yedek subayların geleceği, Halk Fırkası´nın dokuz umdesinden biriydi. Yedek subaylar, Milli Mücadele´den sonra ülke genelinde dernekler kurarak seslerini duyurmaya çalıştı. Bu çalışmada, Milli Mücadele´den sonra ordudan terhis edilen yedek subayların sorunları, bu sorunlara Mustafa Kemal Paşa´nın ve hükümetin yaklaşımı, yedek subayların dernekleşme faaliyetleri ve talepleri temel kaynaklara dayanılarak ayrıntılı bir şekilde incelenmiştir.
The "substitutional officer" was part of the Ottoman army order before the First World War. With the war that began in Europe and the general mobility announced afterwards, a large number of assigned young people were taken to the army as a replacement officer in order to meet the Ottoman army's officer gap. Replacement officers struggling on different fronts during World War I were dismissed from the army with the end of the battle. Replacement officers who lost their social status before joining the army, established associations under different names in order to announce their voices. Under Mustafa Kemal Pasha, along with the resistance movement that began in Anadolu, a large number of replacement officers joined the National Struggle. After the national struggle, with the transition to the peace process, the replacement officers were dismissed from the army. The state of the replacement officers, the improvement of living conditions, was the priority of Mustafa Kemal Pasha and the government. The future of the replacement officers was one of the nine hopes of the People's Division. Deputy officers tried to announce their voices by establishing associations throughout the country after the National Struggle. In this study, the problems of the replacement officers dismissed from the army after the National Struggle, the approach of Mustafa Kemal Pasha and the government to these issues, the association activities and demands of the replacement officers were detailed based on the basic sources.
