One of the most fundamental problems of religious thought is the relationship between reason and revelation. It’s called the religion-science relationship too. This problem is one of the determining factors in the formation of Islamic thought traditions. The relationship between reason and revelation is a very important issue that not only affects the formation of sects but also reveals all of their basic principles. The scholars of Mu'tazilah, one of the founding traditions of Islamic thought, preferred to understand revelation through this basic principle because they thought that understanding religion correctly would be possible through the interpretative power of reason. This attitude led Mu'tazilite thinkers to an abstract understanding of God and emphasized the human wisdom and freedom. On the other hand, Ash'arites, the greatest tradition of Islamic thought, established a direct relationship between understanding of religion and being text-centered. In other words, they limit the interpretation of the mind with the possibilities of proof of the word. According to Ash'ari thinkers, when we leave the understanding of the religious texts to pure reason, it is thought that the servant would determine his own expectations and desires as religion. They also established a God-realm relationship consistent with their attitude and thought that the correct understanding of religion would be possible by depositing all positive attributes fit to God. The article in which the main frame is drawn will be based on the principles of divine unity (tawhid), justice and retribution (al-wa'd wa al-wa'id).
