Abstract:

In this study, it was aimed to determine the thematic and methodological distributions of studies on media literacy education in Turkey. The study was designed according to the qualitative research paradigm and utilized the thematic content analysis. 104 scientific studies were reached by using the criteria sampling method. Data collected with the evaluation matrix prepared by the researchers were analyzed by content analysis method. This study showed that studies examined were concentrated on media literacy course and media literacy levels themes, mostly survey model as a research model was used and quantitative analyzes were used predominantly. Media literacy education in education faculties, media literacy course in secondary school, and teachers’ in-service training have become prominent suggestions.
